cuteness follows
Oh my. This alien sweater is perhaps the cutest knitted thing I have ever seen. It's sold in kits only, though, no patterns. Boo. Plus it only goes up to size 2T. Plus it's $95. However. I'm just saying.
I want to find a chart for a peace symbol and make Viv a simple little rollneck peace sweater after the holidays.
I'm going to embark on a couple "wing-it" projects for both of them for xmas-- a Hello Kitty hat for Vivienne and a Pikachu hat for Silas. I hope I'm able to pull it off. I need to find bright yellow yarn and figure out how I'm going to knit a bow.
Also, I've decided to adorn all my holiday packages this year with homemade pom-poms. Won't that be cute?

Ooh pom-poms! Adorable idea! I'm addicted to cute gift wrapping so I'm SO interested in this!
Will you be at the next Purly Girl meetup? If so, can I have a pom-pom lesson?

You can totally do that alien sweater. Simple raglan with roll neck and hem. Copy the intarsia. Easy, easy, easy. :)
For knit bows, you might look at Nicky Epstein's "Knitted Embellishments."
And there's a peace symbol here:http://www.knittingonthenet.com/patterns/motifpeace2.htm
Are you planning on hosting a knitalong for the Ribby Cardi? As a joke this weekend I wrote a list on my blog of every blogger I have seen write about knitting this sweater. Everyone is dying for a knitalong but I didn't want to steal your thunder if you want to host. Otherwise I can just slap something up on my blog.

Jessica-- I thought about hosting a knitalong, but I don't think I will, since I'm not going to start mine until after the holidays, and I expect some people want to go ahead and get started! So, go for it, if you wanna!

Oh MY goodness! I LOVE that sweater. I do have a plain ol' rollneck sweater pattern...and I'm sure you can do a simple alien/spaceship on a grid...we could come up with something together, I'm positive! We'll discuss more Friday eve (we're knitting...right? RIGHT?!!! I am clear to GO! Yay!). Knitted decoratives on gifties rawks. xo
