help me, knitters!
If you are either of my sisters, do not read this post!!! Force yourself to avert your eyes!!
I desperately need this pattern or something really close. I'd be willing to buy the kit if I could actually find it anywhere and if they had the colors I require, but I can't find it online and it definitely doesn't exist here in New Mexico. It's for my sister for xmas, so I want to get my paws on it fairly soon.
Also, what the heck am I supposed to use as a cable needle for a pattern that uses size 19s? The biggest dpn I have is an 11, so I'm not sure that would even cut it. I'm beginning Casey from Rowan's Ribbon Twist Collection, for myself.
I just finished a scarf for my sweet friend, A., who is making me a gorgeous knitting bag. I won't post pictures until after she receives it, but I think it turned out lovely and soft.
I'm also going to start Frida for my other sister, though I'll be assembling it wrap rather than poncho form. We had already bought some wool for it a while back, but I decided I wanted to knit it in something softer and more luxurious than plain wool, so I ordered some Andean Silk in this colorway:

Ok! Can anyone give me a genius cable needle idea? Or direct me to how I can get a pattern like the Pickup Sticks one?

Knitter to the rescue!!
Jimmy Beans Wool carries that pattern. They just have a little girl in it rather than an adult, but it is the same pattern. It is at the very bottom of the page.

I believe they use Cascade 220, but you could substitute Brown Sheep.

We have the kit in stock at the shop where I work (www.fibergallery.com). We may have the hat pattern too. I can't remember if we sold them all yet. But we definitely have the kit.

I forgot to say that it's not on the shop's website but you can call or email. I'll be at work tomorrow from 11-6 if you want to call (206) 706-4197.

That hat is so stinking cute!! And I've always had a soft spot for that Frieda pattern. You are such a good sister!
As for cable needles, have you tried cabling without a cable needle? That's how I made my Mariah and it really isn't too bad. In fact, I like it better without. Try this link for some awesome pictures and info:

If you're not comforable cabling without a needle (I know I'm not) you could always just make one out of a dowel. I'm hesitant to make my own needles but I don't think a cable needle would be so bad.
