hat a la "flapperjakk"

This pattern was created by flapperjakk on crafster.org. Many, many cute renditions ensued!
My knitty secret pal happened to mention that her snowboarding gear is light blue and pink, so I knit one up for her:

It was fast and fun pattern! I used pink velvet ribbon, but I'm still deliberating on maybe an i-cord instead.

at last!

Midwest Moonlight is done! Well, it needs some light blocking (which I have yet to do), but I showed my mother-in-law last night and she absolutely loved it. I took it back right away for blocking, but I am relieved to be done with it. I enjoyed knitting it, but making mistakes was a bad scene. I am definitely short on patience when it comes to ripping out lacework.
Anyway! Pictures!

Pattern: Midwest Moonlight from Scarf Style
Yarn: 5 Skeins Rowan Wool Cotton, Tulip

I'll post more pictures oce it's blcoked and with her wearing it. These don't really do it justice.

Next up, Ribby Cardi, Buttonhole Bag and Frida.

to-knit list

Inspired by Froggy, I think I'll make a list of thigs I'd like to knit in the upcoming months. Yes, I am procrastinatimg on a certain birthday present that should have been done a week ago. Nevertheless:
  • Fair-isle Pullover in the Fall/ Winter Vogue Knitting, page 87.
  • Buttonhole Bag at Mason-Dixon Knitting
  • Seaweed Wrap by the one & only midnight knitter, but not so seaweedy, more like this:
  • Some sort of intarsia, likely a bag like the S&BNation one that the Crafty Modster just finished, but with this image:
  • The long-ago-promised Frida poncho for my sister.
  • socks

  • That should keep me busy, between working, kids, and planning and executing a big move. Yikes.

    my knitty secret pal rocks!

Looks at all that yumminess! A handknit bath mitt and washcloth, some bath goodies, chocolates in a cute sequined heart-shaped box, some rowan 4-ply cotton (nicely wound, thank you!!), and conversation-heart socks! What a sweet Valentine my pal is!

knitting taking a back-burner to life

This business of having an early-morning job, in addition to the care of my two children all day, is really honing in on my knitting time. I used to knit a little in the afternoon, after everything was cleaned up and the kids were playing together, and a lot in the evening, after they went to bed.
Well, these days, I'm always behind on all the daily chores and by evening, I'm in bed practically at the same time they are so I can get up at 3 AM.
I'm not happy about this turn of events. I want to churn out a lot more. I'm one for instant gratification and having projects that shouldn't take months doe just that is bringing me down.
Oh, and ripping out lace sucks.

Oh! I have been tagged, so I guess I'm to answer the following questions:

    1. Total amount of music files on your computer: Next to none. Ahem. Because we have an entire computer devoted strictly to mp3s. It's a server, and it's actually networked into our home stereo system, with speakers in two rooms. My husband is geekerific, and I love it. I think he has something like 60,000 mp3s.

    2. The CD you last bought is: Wow. I don't remember. I burn everything I want. I feel kind of guilty. I think I'll buy a CD very soon. The last thing I burned was Franz Ferdinand.

    3. What song were you listening to before you read this message? Coincidentally, "Jacqueline" by Franz Ferdinand.

    4. Write down five songs that you often listen to or that mean a lot to you:

1.The Beatles' "In My Life"-- it's my personal love song for my husband and my children. T & I danced to it at our wedding. 2. The Cure's "Just Like Heaven", just because I have always loved it. 3. Black-Eyed Peas' "hey Mama". I kind of regard as my anthem to staying young at heart. 4. White Stripes' "Apple Blossom", just because it's a great song and I love the lyrics. 5. Ben Harper & Jack Johnson "High Tide or Low Tide" because it reminds me of my best friend,

    5. Who will you pass this on to (3 people) and why? Scout because she needs inspiration update her new blog more, Anjo because she is an amazingly prolific knitter and because I miss her(!!) and Abbey because I enjoy her blog & think we'd get along famously if we ever were to meet!

phew! Now, if I had spent that time knitting, maybe I'd have less to whine about. lol
