thank you to my secret pal

Mmmm, I got some package-y goodness yesterday! My first secret pal gift arrived!



That's Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport in Blackberry and some Brittany size 2 dpns. Why yes, I have hinted at wanting to learn to knit socks recently!! What a clever secret pal. There was no chocolate in the box-- I'm assuming the mailman ate it. (just kidding, dear sp, if you are reading this-- I have to be able to tease you a little!!)
I think the time has come when I must buy a ball-winder. I have quite a bit of lace & fingering-weight yarns now, which I am terrified to wind by hand.

It is hot here today. I wish I had a summer cocktail of some sort. Maybe a lemon drop, or another fruity vodka something in a martini glass. Instead I am drinking a poor excuse for an iced coffee, featuring Trader Joe's soymilk, which really has nothing on Silk and some Starbucks Komodo Dragon, which is truly good coffee, but which would be much better over ice with some Silk French Vaniila creamer.

I think I really want this book. The problem is, I already have ridiculous numbers of knitting books.
Has anyone bought & not loved it? Interested in a swap of some sort perhaps?

photoshop is back!

It was a good mail day. First of all, I was RAoK'ed! Look at the goodies sent to me by Lynn, of my very own locale:

Isn't that wee felted bag wonderful? And look at the delicious yarn! More stitchmarkers for my collection!! It was such a cool surprise-- oh, and the yarn's colorway is "Happy Dance"-- apropos, no?
Also, my Lorna's Laces Sheperd Worsted arrived. Mmmm, Black Purl.

Go buy some yarn at KnitPixie!!! Missa was so helpful with my gazillion questions and the yarn arrived two days after I ordered it!

Crumpets seems to be taking forfreakingever. It feels heavy!! I hope it won't be uncomfortable.
Oh, final note. Here's the modified Umbilical Cord hat I knit the other day for a new wee little preemie guy:

neither here nor there

The title sort of sums up my life at the moment. We are in a state of total limbo, almost ready to put the house on the market, waiting for T's resume submissions to get some action, waiting on prequalification for the new Albuquerque house, waiting waiting waiting...
I'm also limbo-ish with regard to my computer. T recently had to perform some sort of geek magic on it to get it to work at all, but in the process I lost all of my applications, mostly anyway, so I am without my beloved Photoshop, which means I can't show you the extremely cute preemie-sized umbilical cord hat I knit from some Suss cotton that came in one of those mega-clearance at Barnes & Noble knit kits which I bought purely for the yarn a year or so ago. Nor can I show you my progress on Crumpets.
So, I will share this bit of loveliness with you:

I can't decide which sucks more-- not enough money which which to buy lovely yarn, or not enough time to knit all the pretty yarn already available in your stash. Le sigh.

I wish

I had some knitting pictures to show, but alas and alack, my knitting time is still very minimal. We're busy getting our house ready to sell and preparing to have a yard sale this weekend.
I am still plugging away on crumpets. I'm about 2 inches into the skirt.
