mmmmm....

The Andean Silk has arrived. Merino + Alpaca + Silk = &hearts&hearts&hearts ! So yummy.

Have you seen the new Knitty Calendar? Very cute!

I have had a couple of very-busy, non-knitting days & I really want to start Top-Seeeekrit Holiday Project #1, but I'm lacking the needles I want. I forsee a trip to the LYS tomorrow!

I'm loving S&B

So last night was Stitch & Bitch, my second time here in Albuquerque. It was awesome! There were about ten of us and we had people knitting things from baby booties to Airy Scarfs to sweaters and everyone was asking each other advice. Not to mention, it's held at Flying Star, which may be the coolest cafe/restaurant in Albuquerque. I had the most delicious pumpkin pie, my first time this season!
I made some progress on Casey, which is pain in the ass to knit, but is turning out really cool. The only downside is that it has a very obvious wrong side, which, when it comes to scarves, can be inconvenient at best and fussy at worst.

Bobbles! Big fat cables! Giganto unwieldy size 19 needles!

Looky at those bobbles, aren't they cuuuute?

How gorgeous is that yarn? It's very soft, also. Bonus.

knitters rock the universe

Thanks so much to karma who referred me to Wendy's Cabling Without a Cable Needle! I'm going to do exactly that for my Casey scarf.
Also, thanks so much to amylovie who helped me find the Pickup Sticks pattern! It's so awesome to be able to say HELP and have several people offer advice within a few minutes.
All together now, knitterlove!!! Awwww.

help me, knitters!

If you are either of my sisters, do not read this post!!! Force yourself to avert your eyes!!

I desperately need this pattern or something really close. I'd be willing to buy the kit if I could actually find it anywhere and if they had the colors I require, but I can't find it online and it definitely doesn't exist here in New Mexico. It's for my sister for xmas, so I want to get my paws on it fairly soon.
Also, what the heck am I supposed to use as a cable needle for a pattern that uses size 19s? The biggest dpn I have is an 11, so I'm not sure that would even cut it. I'm beginning Casey from Rowan's Ribbon Twist Collection, for myself.
I just finished a scarf for my sweet friend, A., who is making me a gorgeous knitting bag. I won't post pictures until after she receives it, but I think it turned out lovely and soft.

I'm also going to start Frida for my other sister, though I'll be assembling it wrap rather than poncho form. We had already bought some wool for it a while back, but I decided I wanted to knit it in something softer and more luxurious than plain wool, so I ordered some Andean Silk in this colorway:

Ok! Can anyone give me a genius cable needle idea? Or direct me to how I can get a pattern like the Pickup Sticks one?

Crumpets!!!

It's done, and it was just in time for Vivienne's 4th birthday.
the pattern: chiagu.com
the yarn: Lion Brand CottonEase in Sugar Plum, approximately 3.25 skeins
size: 4
modifications: no crochet edging, instead I added eyelets and did a picot bind-off

closer detail of the beaded bodice.
the happy crumpets dance!
gratuitous shot of my gorgeous girl in her beautiful dress.

This was rewarding to knit, but I had trouble getting through the endless stockinette skirt. Still, it feels like I have knit an heirloom piece that my daughter can someday pass on to hers.
I think I'll work on some simple scarves and socks now!!
