airy scarf and the kitten who looked like a hedgehog

I'm working on the Airy Scarf, from Last Minute Knitted Gifts. I've wanted to knit it for a long time, but really had too many other projects going, but I got inspired when I saw this Rowan Kidsilk Night, and decided I must knit it in time for holiday parties. Well, the first one is Thursday night & I'm only about 4 inches in. I think I can pull it off, though.

look at the sparkly goodness!

In other news, my husband and children went to the animal shelter and arranged the adoption of a 4 month old kitten, whom they brought home last night. She is a grey, black & brown tabby, though her colors merge in such a way that if she's curled up she is sort of hedgehog-like, She's very cute. We're calling her Macy Gray-Brown.

And hey, if you are out there & you read this humble little blog, say hi! I see by my site meter that I get about 30 perusals a day (nothing compared to the prolific knitbloggers, I know!) but very few comments. So, if you're reading this, say hello! Tell me who you are!

thankful

I haven't knit-blogged for 10 days! I suck! It's been a busy time, too, and I haven't really completed anything or really made much progress. I have given up on getting decent pictures of Casey, and instead give you these two:

Is it because it's mostly black that I can't get a decent picture that shows the cables & bobbles? Also, I hate to report that the Ribbon Twist really pills. Ah well.

We spent Thanksgiving yesterday with the Scout family and friends. It was really great. Feel the Scout & Knitizen love...

As much as I miss my family, I am very, very thankful to live in this beautiful part of the world. My in-laws are here visiting; today we hiked a small, kid-friendly trail in the Sandias. Here they are:

They are moving here next summer. Now if I could just convince my sisters to do the same!!

Casey is done. I haven't managed to get a decent picture, though. I think it needs some blocking. Maybe later today.
I haven't made any much progress on my Sooper Seekrit Holday Gifts. We got a dog, and that's occupied quite a bit of my knitting time the last couple days. Meet Pablo. He's a one-year old border collie mix. Is he not adorable??
Sadly, one our kitties ran away on Halloween and has yet to return. We haven't totally lost hopeyet, since a couple people thinkthey have seen him, but it isn't looking great.

Secret Pal, are you out there?? I haven't heard from you in a while!

Halloween Pictures

How is this at all knitting-related, you might ask.
Well. Scout and I drank cosmos and watched Knitty Gritty while the daddies took the kids trick-or-treating.

In other news, I'm 2/3s done with Casey and I gartered up a couple random scarves the last few days-- one for me, one for Vivienne. It's getting chilly in the morning here in gorgeous Albuquerque.
